Introduction

Hey all! As I make my way through THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR and through its many Quests, I had this idea to rank all airships in the final fantasy Series. This top 10 is solely based on the Airship design alone, regardless of the Story, characters of each respective game, focusing solely on the airship’s design, color, and badassery (is that a word?, Whatever). So here are my top 10 Final Fantasy Arships from least favorite to Most Favorite!

Number 10: The Enterprise Final Fantasy XIV

Not to mistake it for the Other Enterprise from Final Fantasy IV. The enterprise of Final Fantasy XIV is ugly at best. I went through so much trouble to find this thing, fetch quest after fetch quest only to discover it was broken upon discovery needing to yet go on ANOTHER fetch quest to find a stinking crystal to repair it, Why am I bringing the plot when I said I wouldn’t? well, there really isn’t much to say about this thing other than it has a blue balloon on top of a baby blue roof and can´t tell which side is the front from the back. truly hideous. Also, I know that in 14, there are a ton of different transports to be acquired but this one here is the one the game presents when going through story mode almost at the end of A Realm Reborn.

Number 9: The Prima Vista Final Fantasy IX

Also known as the theater ship. The Prima Vista is a pretty name, not just its name, but its boat-like appearance in general. In this position, I decided to consider all other boat-like airships across multiple Final Fantasy titles from the very first one, but the Prima Vista came out on top as the prettiest. It has that structure towards the middle section with pretty lights and a couple of towers adorning its surroundings. it´s too bad it gets wrecked at the start of the game and even though there are more airships in IX, to me the prima vista takes the cake.

Number 8: The Higwind Final Fantasy VII

It might possibly be the greatest game ever made, but in this top 10, we are looking at airships alone. That said, the Highwind is a pretty name, however, look at it. Looks like a World War 2, 1945 German Blimp Looks like something Solid Snake was ordered to go destroy! hahaha. The two propellers on each side make it look aesthetically ugly albeit the fastest Ship Shinra has got to offer. I need to mention that in disc3, the Highwind gains a Main Back Thrust that makes the ship look like a missile, a giant missile, those who played it know exactly what I’m talking about. so, from okay, it went to ugly. sorry Highwind, the music is pretty good, but there are betters out there.

Number 7: Setzer Final Fantasy Type Zero

Not gonna lie, this ship looks straight out of an F-Zero vehicle with its wings tucked in. It kinda gets a little better when it opens its wings but I really can’t stand the cute bunny ears that protrude from above, towards the front, like seriously that’s what it looks like XD, what are those for? aesthetics? and also, is it a rocket? I mean the main back thruster expels so much combustion that I think it’s about to use “you got boost power” in the FINAL LAP” in Mute City. What’s next? to dish out a banana peel and throw it on the ground? yeah, don´t like it.

Number 6 The Strahl Final Fantasy XII

Piloted by the sky pirate Balthier, this airship was developed by the military in Final Fantasy XII. Unique Design: The Strahl boasts a distinctive appearance, blending futuristic elements with a touch of steampunk aesthetics, characterized by its sleek design and metallic structure. What I love about this ship is its wings that open wide when flying through the skies of Ivalice. I also like the resemblance to the mythic battleship Vic-Viper 3T01, with its double front cannons ready for action!. It actually looks like an airship. one suitable for such a charismatic crew!.

Number 5: The Lunar Whale Final Fantasy IV

A spaceship told of in the legends of Final Fantasy IV that can carry its passengers to the moon. An excellent description I might say, the lunar whale has the property to soar into outer space! crazy! just look at that hull! A through and through Whale, the biggest beast of the animal world. The colors are a sight to behold, red and Black. and the lit-up thrusters on the bottom make it look like a first-century Romanian Battleship! The form is just natural all through and through. There is a handful of Airships In Final Fantasy IV, but of course, I´m picking the best out of each game.

Number 4: The Celsius From Final Fantasy X-2

You know, if it weren´t for those stupid things out on the front that look like wheels, I would have ranked it higher, I mean, to me it looks like a friggin Motorcycle, is that what they were going with this? I mean, Its not ugly, at least it is red, and the back part is badass with those long exhausts that make it look like a twisted metal Machine remember that game?, but I guess the gullwings had to ride this thing without complaining too much.

Number 3: Regalia Type-F Final Fantasy XV

The Regalia would rank Higher if i´d included its ground 4-wheeled version, but gotta keep up the consistency and ONLY rank AIRSHIPS, stuff that flies. Are Chocobos included here? they certainly fly, but a bird is no ship hahaha. Anyway, the regalia type-f is elegant black, it gains sexy points for that, but when the car transforms it looks like a transformer. Another case of not knowing which part is the front, from the picture below you might say, the regalia is coming at you, nay, it’s not. That my friend, is the rear…sigh… the car/ship is going into the background in the image shown, so I don’t know what to make of its form. It´s cool, but not so cool as the next one coming up. And I don´t care about any DLC stuff, I don´t usually purchase stuff like that, this is the original design in FFXV, so that´s it, you get one chance.

Number 2: The Fahrenheit Final Fantasy X

For context, the Fahrenheit can produce a long barrel coming from beneath the Hull to fire a strong lightning shock attack! The disc on its back spins like a windmill and the flat surface deck is wide enough for the party to step out and do battle from there! A versatile ship with good speed. Its colors are particularly unique among the many airships in the franchise, Light purple with white and traces of yellow. The Music theme is engaging and makes you really feel you´re soaring through the skies of Spira, let alone Cid´s Voice saying “YEEHAW HERE WE GO!“. The only downside is you really don´t control the ship for navigation per se, but rather you just select your destination on the world map and just go there.

Number 1: The Ragnarok Final Fantasy VIII

I don´t know about you, but I see a badass dragon, and to top it all off it’s completely Red, With its super long cannon below. No other Ship (except the Celsius from Final Fantasy X2 is completely Red, which in my eyes, earns a lot of points).Has that Unique aerodynamic design with what appears to be wings on its back and the double Thrusters all look badass. It even has an awesome landing animation with sound effects!. If that weren´t Enough, It just so happens to have, IMHO the best airship music to go along with it! It also in a strange way, it reminds me of the Redbull XJ2011 in red, wanna read that story of my struggle with that car? Click here. for these reasons, the Ragnarok earns the number one spot since it’s a futuristic Aircraft contrary to looking like a medieval Commercial ship of the middle ages.
