Best rpg games to play anytime! whether it came out 25 years ago or last year, this year, here are some recommendations to play, all tested and played by me! So there you go my seal of quality, and I´ll also tell you why you should play it!
- Octopath Traveler: A classic turn-based old-school RPG with fantastic music and sprite-awesome characters. The nostalgia meter on this one is quite high, if you´re into turn-based, Super Nintendo-like sprite characters, then you just have to play Octopath Traveler.
- Dragon Quest XI: A masterpiece of the Dragon Quest Universe. It has anime-like characters with designs of Sensei Akira Toriyama and Dragon Ball. Turn-based by excellence, with such a captivating story that will literally make you cry with joy. Whether you play it traditionally in 2D on Switch or 3D CGI how it was originally conceived, the enjoyment you´ll take out from it is priceless.
- Persona 4 Golden: Some people call it a dating Sim, slice of life, everyday life, and other stuff I read on the internet. Hear me out, the Formula Blends in perfectly: You´re a student by day and socializing in Inaba, while afternoon, night time you´re crawling a dungeon full of enemies to solve murder cases in Inaba. Turn-based in all its glory, and the musical score is just on another level. The characters are super interesting and charming. The persona games are among my top 5 best Rpgs of ALL time. You should try it, give it a shot.
- Tales of Graces F: This came out on the PlayStation 3. Yeah, been a while. A game about Friendship. It may sound cheesy, but, make no mistake, its plot thickens the more you play it. The combat system is super engaging and fun as its considered an action RPG, and the characters, oh my god, Sophie is just the best. graphics are anime-like and the music is on par with the best of this list.
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC: I chose the first game in the rebooted series so you can start off with the right game to immerse yourself in the saga, Get to know estelle and Joshua and a whole lot of wonderful characters that await you in this adventure. Cartoony-looking characters with anime portraits and fun situations will have you cracking up as you travel around the country of Liberl and try to stop an internal conspiracy.
- Chrono Trigger: It would be sacrilege not to mention this game on this list, I mean c’mon, anybody in the RPG scene has heard this name at least once in their lifetime. Sprite characters much Like Final Fantasy VI, compelling story, Superb Music that transports you to the future and Past, literally speaking, and a slew of other things that make Chrono trigger a MUST play. Combat is turn-based in all its glory, with Multiple Endings depending on what decisions you make. Released back on the Super Nintendo, Chrono Trigger has earned its place in the Annals of History for RPGs.
