Jim Ryan, the now 63 year old, has expressed that time has gotten to him, and thus has decided after 30 years of service; to step down from being Sony´s CEO before his official leave on March of 2024. He states that, the travelling between Europe and the USA has made its toll on him, and hence expressed it was time to call it a day.
He of course expressed words of gratitude for working for such an amazing company alongside peers and colleagues. The Japanese Giant, SONY, decided to organize a farewell party to honor his contributions, and in doing so gifting him a distinct, unique item: A one of a kind Playstation 5 themed Playstion 1.
As you can see, the console is not white, but has the gray tones the original Playstation had back when it came out in 1996 in the US. Notice how it has the controller socket plugged into the console just like olden days, and move your attention to the controller, it´s also gray and you can see the 4 colored Playstation Buttons just like the 1st controller, Pink for Square, Blue for Cross, Green for Triangle and Red for Circle. the Home Button also carries the original colors of the Playstation logo from back in the day and the D-Pad is dark rather than clear.
Fans were already asking SONY if this reveal would be a limited run edition of the Console, but sadly SONY said that its just one of a kind, and that it would be sitting in Jim´s living room from now on!. Boy, what I would give to get my hands on that beauty!.
Farewell Jim, it is sad to see you go, you made many good contributions to make playstation a better name, you will be missed. Rest assured, his position will be occupied now by Hiroki Totoki, an operations and financial director at the company starting on April of 2024, however the position will be an Interim one.
